Hollyhocks

Inspired by the hollyhocks...

The first is stitched on gently dyed muslin.

The second is a Sharpie line drawing.

Hollyhocks originated in China and were cultivated to symbolize the passage of time.

  2. The hollyhocks are great (in life and on fabric). I reall;y like the Sharpie drawing. I can't draw a straight line with the help of a ruler. LOL

Glad to hear your DH made it back safe and sound. Sounds like he had a ball - and I'm sure he missed you like crazy too! :-)

  3. So pretty! Hollyhocks bring such pleasant memories of trying to make the blossoms into ballet dancers.....I had one here but it didn't last very long, too cool probably.

  8. I adore hollyhocks, we had them when I was a child. I'll have to see if they will grow here. Yours are so pretty and I love the new color. MMMMMM, I think I smell fried fish.

  10. time is sure passing, and I love how you captured the Hollyhocks. I consider them a old flower for some reason. I must have been around them more as a child.
    Stay Cool, Mary
