Folding Fabric Book

Here is a sneak peek of my first (nearly done) fabric book. Simple folding style, consists of 4 crazy quilt collage pieces mounted on heavy felting. The verses are a poem by e.e.cummings. (Not readabe in this photo - a bit when enlarged - click on picture.)

I tried to get an old-fashioned look to the front - like an antique book. I'm contemplating my next move. Perhaps a nice ribbon to tie it closed with...

  2. Simply Stunning! Can you share how you finish the edges of your atc and cq/collage work? Do you put batting in your atc? Your work is absolutely beautiful- what great inspiration.

  3. Yes a ribbon tie would be nice. You are so talented! I love the butterfly and do I see fairies too! You will have to do something with lavender!

  4. Thank you Joy, Lillian, and Naturegirl!
I have not been using batting in my cqc's, but I like to use felt as a base for the block, embroidering thru the felt, then mounting the block to a second piece of felt for a finished look and to leave a slight "framed" look around the edges. (I call the stitches around the edge "Frankenstien Stitches" because they are a simple large running stitch.)
Naturegirl- do you mean the color or the wonderful scented dried lavender that you do!? Crabapple makes awesome sachets with lavender!

  5. Hi,,
I love your fabric book. I am in the process of making a page for a fabric book swap that I am in. Its been a little daunting at first,,but I am starting to like the page.
I love your Jack Russell,,I have a Rat Terrier who is very close to a JR. I saw the pic of your JR jumping into the pool,,My RT hates water,,lol. She is also OCD and a neurotic little thing,,but we love her.
I Love your flowers too,,espiecally the sweet pea chair,,how cool!
