Wedding Cake Quilt - the process

We have a wedding coming up in July.
[Levi (my son in the Navy) and Jenna]
She has chosen the colors for the wedding
to be yellow and black,
and chose a 3 tiered modern cake.
With that I started doodling...

The doodles went to AutoCAD;
cleaned up, measured, defined.
Fabric (Aviary 2) was ordered & received.
And played with.
The sewing began on Friday.
(I love simplicity of design and quick quilts!)
Here is the front:
And the back:
Next will be the layering, pin basting,
and quilting!

Check for update!
(Give me another week!)

I love long weekends.

Thank you to all our veterans, servicemen, with
special thanks to those who gave all.
Not because I have a long weekend,
but because I am free.
Thank you.

  1. Hi Cat, I can’t believe how quickly you work! The design, colors and fabrics are GREAT. BTW, I loved your Flowers quilt, too (should’ve commented). Nice to have a sunny day now and then so you can take a pic of it outside, eh? I did see the sun peek out for a few minutes here today. Have a fun weekend! Hugs, Cathy

Definitely thanks to all our servicemen. My son-in-law is in the army and I'm proud of him. Like the colors. Reminds me of happy bees and honey. I'm sure she's going to love it. I like the flower quilt in the previous post as well, so happy!
