Painted Horses to Iron Horses

Downtown Ogden... you will see a painted horse... you'll see 2 more by the fountain in the background, and they dot a few of the corners. Link to Painted Horses. The building is the train station.

Looking the other direction... you'll see our iron horses.
The view is east on "Two-bit street" (25th Street).
It looks pretty mild, doesn't it.

"Crime boss Al Capone commented in the 1920s that Ogden was too wild a town for him." [Historic 25th].

It's not that way now.. at least during the daylight!

Ride to Corinne

Our destination was Corinne.

The establishment in the background is Mim's bar, jokingly refered to as "church" to many bikers. Read the above link and you'll understand why!

Corrine was originally one of the few non-Mormon settlements in the territory.

With the wind in her face, she rides.

Here's a little picture tour of what's going on around here:

A very classic & artistic old motorcycle with a flat front tire and very much in need sits by the shop. I really like it's form and think it would be great renovated!

And here is my motorcycle (A Harley Dynaglide) sitting IN the shop awaiting a new innertube in it's back tire. I had a flat on the way to work yesterday, which is a different experience on a motorcycle! Luckily I was only going about 30 or 35 mph.

Moab

We are back wishing we could do laundry and leave again. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful red rocks.

One picture is at Dead Horse Point; the area carries a sad story of wild horses being rounded up on the point (in the 1800's) and left to die of thirst with the view of the river below.

The other 3 pictures are taken in Arches National Monument, Delicate Arch stands atop the massive wall of rock (click on the picture to enlarge.) More tall rock monuments in next picture and our group of four bikers in the last picture.

Ready to Roll

Ready to roll on a southbound trip to Moab. It's a red rock playground in Utah. The heat will be on, and the red rocks will be calling to us to get off the bikes and come exploring. No, Blue the Jack Russel will not be going this time, he's just packing down my bag. He has been on many motorcycle trips; he rides on my husbands back seat in a soft sided pet carrier and loves it. Many motels in Moab are pet friendly, but the National Parks are not, so Blue stays home this time. BTW, he is getting too old for the heat of this journey.

I wanna ride

When the air warms up and the ribbon of pavement lies ahead...and the Harley rumbles "let's ride"...I can't stay home and crazy quilt. So off we rode today on what I called our "Tulip Ride", because we rode past sooo many beautiful bloomin' tulips! Maybe the Lord will send rain tomorrow, then I will stay home and embroider tulips.
