I've been wondering what felting is for a looooong time, and saw it mentioned on Micki's blog. I just HAD to go buy myself a felting needle and base pad and give it a try. Now... all I did was add a little bit of fiber & yarn to an existing piece of wool felt... but it was really cool! All you do is stab this needle thingy into the fiber & felt... and it joins the fibers together. I did an ATC size, added an iron on picture, did my feather stitch, added some beads, and wala... here's what I got:
Now my visions include landscapes of mountains and trees and sunsets - all felted... (yeah right). Need more supplies!! Or... wasn't I going to organize what I had with this new year and NOT buy new? Forget that.

Hey, that's cool! I always adore the photos you add to your little qc! I would love to add such a look to my ones, too! Where do you get those photos from?
I have a few CD's of picture files that I have bought on ebay. Search on "image CD".
Oh "felt" is a very enjoyable medium to work with, I like your artwork using it!! It shows a different depth like you said!
Hi Cat! This is great . . . you are so full of ideas and know just where to add a little something to your ATC's....bits of yarn, ribbons, tulle, atitches. I love it! Joy
Well, Cat, you have created another great piece. And don't you find that stabbing that needle up and down is a great way to get rid of a little stress. LOL!
Thanks for the link to my blog. :)
Beautiful........I have been doing a little bit of crazy quilting, since I got my book.....i'm trying the different stitches, and I just ironed on material to freezer paper, and ran a picture through my computer...IT WORKED! Thank you for you help.... I have so much to learn and now you added felting....lordy......

How great to see a SPARK !
Yes ! you have to go with it !
I see you have a knack for this (without a doubt!).
This is so pretty. I love the colors. The texture is so soft and warm... I want to touch it !! Your stitching is perfect around the edges and love the curly fibers.
Yes please get started and learn everything so you can teach me !

Now the stuff I called "curly fibers"...is that just some of the roving you have tucked and felted in so make it look that way ? NICE !
The curly look to the fibers resulted from felting textured yarn into the felt - the finer fibers felted in and the curlies stayed on top.
Micki is right - felting is great stress relief!
Good job! It's great to hear the excitement in your post. I like the part about being a stress reliever!
Oh,,wow,,that is cool. And you just pick right up on it,,your good with the needle girl! Uh yeah,, one of my resolutions this year was "no more art supplys, no more Michaels,,but how many times have I already been there? Ha! Lady says "woof" to Blue!
