Circles!

Today I learned how to sew circles in quilt blocks! Way cool! And easy if you follow Pam's tutorial!! Here is PART ONE, and here is PART TWO. Check it out!

Pocket Quilts

I've been making these scrappy little pocket quilts... they have been a good way to practice my cursive. They are 4" square aprox.

It is a beautiful SUNNY Saturday here, and should warm up to 50 degrees!!! Right now the snow (about 6-8 inches) is frozen enough to walk on top of, and Annie has had a blast playing ball out back. I think the delight of walking on the snow will be over within the hour though.

We have a snowstorm going on outside, and I am inside
visiting with my Juki and working on the second
pink and white and black HOPE piece.

Changed the background fabric for this one.

Pink... black and white.

I made the center block and tacked it down on top of the polka-dot block. Free hand machine stitched the bird and words, and stipple quilted the rest.

I have a second one in the making. I think I will donate one to the Relay for Life Cancer fundraiser that we have here in June, and the other I'll finish up to list on etsy. (Don't time me on this!) With the pink and the HOPE, it think it makes a perfect statement for the cancer fight.

Just practicing....

Bloom

I found a way to combine the look of a watercolor sketch with sewing! Isn't this fun!? Oh the places to go.... With black thread I stitched the sketch, then filled in the colors with some fabric paints. The background was stippled with a light thread.

I had to get a new sewing machine to do this with. My old hand-me-down machine just wasn't cutting it anymore. I looked into the Juki that I heard about on Bumblebeans blog, and decided to go with one of them. What a dream.
