Angels

This was going to be another postcard, but I was off on the size, so it came to be simply a mini quilt. I'll have to give it another try on making a 2nd postcard & measure more carefully!

Angel print on cotton, will ebay this week.

The Hummingbird Dance

We went for a ride on our motorcycles up a canyon this evening to try and beat the heat. After a while we pulled over and walked to a gentle creek about 5 feet wide with large rocks dotted thru it. We found a couple rocks to sit on and enjoyed the peace.

Soon a hummingbird with a mint green back and brown belly started dancing above the water in front of us, just out of our reach. She danced and danced, entertaining us for quite a while.

Hummingbird print on cotton, french knots and silk ribon flowers.

* F L Y *

This little blondie deserves to fly and so do you! It's always easier to fly with encouragement from friends also, so included in this quiltie are beads from Sandy, sequins from Mom, and a butterfly from Heather. (Thanks)

Measures 5X7 and will be listed on ebay tomorrow. Click on this picture to enlarge.

With COLOR

I have been "pinked" by Nancy. She sent me wonderful pink things - I think she knew I love fabric and trims! The pictures show the goodies, don't miss the pink poodle! And the rose petals at the bottom are wonderful scented soaps! But first a before shot of without color!
THEN WITH COLOR! Brightens my day!
Thank you Nancy!

My Grandparents

These pics had to be in the 20's. Aren't they a handsome bunch! The sepia photo is my Dad's parents and the black/white photo is of my Mom's parents (in the motorcycle attire).

The one I got any artistic ability from is the girl in the hat. She was always making something beautiful. She taught me how to crochet teddy bears and hacky-sac's in her last part of life.

All are gone now except the guy with the bandana. And he's a live-wire!

Vondella and John on the left. Rhoda Mae and Leonard on the right.

Pool Play

Everyone has been so caring and terrific about Blue, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

He is back to his playful self. Still sleeps in a few extra minutes but then he hits the floor running as normal. These pictures were taken Sunday in the pool. He is not a good swimmer but enjoys floating on the lounges and playing ball.
He will stay on a special diet and take the medicine here on out and I think we will be able to enjoy a few more years together! Yahoooo.

Again, Thanks so much to all for your responses when I posted my worries on the blog.

Crazy Quilt Collage in Progress...

Blue is recovering well, he is still a bit slower than normal (he's tried a new thing - sleeping in), but he will come around with the continued liver med I'm sure.

Here is the progress on the little quiltie (5x7). More embellishing to go. I used a piece of an antique silk crazy quilt block for the base on this and the silk fabrics are wonderful to work on.

This morning I am going out back to "Miracle Gro" the garden and flowers for a little health boost for them in this relentless heat.

Blue

Yahoo, Blue is doing good! We had a scarry 48 hours of not coming out of anesthesia after a simple toenail operation. Turned out his liver was not functioning properly to get the anesthetic out of his system, so we had a very groggy & glassy eyed dog for way too long.

As of this morning he has started to develope an interest in food, I was able to get the liver meds down him and a few hours later he brought me a ball. No, can't play yet, but it's good to know he wants to again! He is getting the sparkle back in his eyes again too.

From here, it is a bland diet of chicken and rice jello for a couple days, then a special formulated dog food that is meant for dogs with liver problems. Liver meds from now on, and a change to his arthritis meds.

The picture on the couch is today, starting to feel better, and the other picture is the beginning of a crazy quilt collage I will make this week in thanks. I have loved that picture of the praying girl with her dog and kitten as long as I remember, I think a relative had it when I was a child. I never expected to have a JR that would look just like the one in the picture! I will post the crazy quilt collage when done.

This week's collages

This past week I tasked myself with making both a boyish collage and a girlish collage. The black and white picture of this boy and his dog printed out very detailed and fine. I went with Americana colors on it and it is called "Patches of Yesterday".

The girlie one I used soft pictures of a cat and a dog and called it "Sweet Companions". For the pink flowers I sketched them on paper, scanned, printed on fabric and colored in with colored pencils and added beads in the centers.

These are a bit different than my normal crazy quilt collages.

I'll put both on ebay along with the fabric book this weekend.

Folding Fabric Book

Here is a sneak peek of my first (nearly done) fabric book. Simple folding style, consists of 4 crazy quilt collage pieces mounted on heavy felting. The verses are a poem by e.e.cummings. (Not readabe in this photo - a bit when enlarged - click on picture.)

I tried to get an old-fashioned look to the front - like an antique book. I'm contemplating my next move. Perhaps a nice ribbon to tie it closed with...

Catcus Flower

This photo was taken by a friend on our motorcycle trip to Southern Utah. I think the lighting and the colors are just perfect, and I love the contrast between the sharp cactus thorns and the delicate pink flower.

Life is full of contrast.
