Crazy Quilt Gargoyle

I found a Gargoyle in my Crazy Quilt.
He's staring out at me with not a happy face. He makes me feel guilty for cutting up the antique crazy quilt and doing my altered fabric art collage thingie to it. I almost feel like he's saying STOP! Stop cutting and restore this quilt!!!
Humn... Maybe... I've only cut one 7" strip off the quilt so far, it's still a nice piece... but then I wouldn't have a crazy quilt to alter if I stopped. What to do what to do...

  1. Cat, I think you have to use it just as it is, with the outer fabric hanging off and everything. He wanted to get out,and you helped him!!
Methinks he's a 'good gargoyle, appreciative at the least. LOL

  3. I agree, he's got to be happier uncovered! Maybe just cut him out and put him where he can see what you're doing. LOL.

  5. laughing because I do this too....I use things and recycle them into artwork and sometimes feel SO GUILTY about it. I think that little man does not understand...The things you are making are so beautiful and give such joy , I am sure whomever originally put together this quilt is / would be in certain approval of what you are doing. You are restoring it's beauty.

I know you have to do what your gut tells you , but I for one vote for You Doing That Thing That YOu Do with it !

Hush now Little Gargoyle Man !

  6. You are probably making better use of the quilt by recycling it into art pieces. I say use this guy uncovered as an art piece in his own right!!

  12. I love him. I know you will do something wonderful with him. As for the rest of the quilt, I'd do whatever seems the most fun and best use of the piece.
