Shelter Quilts

Here are the 2  women's shelter quilts I made this past week.  They were a good opportunity to experiment with feather shapes on the quilting frame.
The front has strips that are 9" across, there are 30 positive affirmation words stitched into some of the off white strips. The rest of the fabric is Rowan Liberty from 2009.
I used flannel on the backs, thinking that would be cozy for cold Utah winters.  If you click on the pic you can see the meandering feathering. The quilts are a twin comforter size.

I go back to work tomorrow, with mixed feelings! Half of me says YAY and the other half says Boo Hoo!
Thanks again to all my blogger friends!

Comfort Quilt

Healing quilts - Comfort quilts

What better quilt to make while I'm recovering from surgery!
I had my right kidney removed a week ago, the first few days post-op were a wee bit painful, but now I'm feeling really good - considering!
Just finished a quilt top with 30 positive affirmation words stitched on.
I would like to make 3 of these. One to sell and two to donate to the woman's shelter.  Wouldn't the positive words be encouraging and comforting!
So... I have 2 more tops to make... and get some backs and batts...

Scrappy Flag Quilt - Finished!

Here is the finished flag quilt. It's a very happy quilt, and I'm very happy to have it done! I have a hard time parting with scrap quilts, as they hold so many memories with each fabric, so this one will be a keeper.  I think it will work great in the motorhome for a few extra cuddles.

This was really a simple quilt. I sewed scraps together into long rows of about 6 or 7 inches wide, then using a triangle template cut the triangles. Then cut the neutral gray triangles and started sewing them all together in rows. 126 scrappy triangles and 126 gray triangles.

Happy Weekend to everyone.
XOXO
