Crazy Quilt Collage

Just finished this 5x7 crazy quilt collage. It has a charming quote, “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” How true!!

What are your most breath-taking moments?

Around Here!

Here's a little picture tour of what's going on around here:
A very classic & artistic old motorcycle with a flat front tire and very much in need sits by the shop. I really like it's form and think it would be great renovated!
Click on picture for tremendous rust detail.
And here is my motorcycle (A Harley Dynaglide) sitting IN the shop awaiting a new innertube in it's back tire. I had a flat on the way to work yesterday, which is a different experience on a motorcycle! Luckily I was only going about 30 or 35 mph.
Click on picture and you can actually find the nail in the tire.
This is Jet ready to go into the cool house for her day nap.
And Blue enjoying the summer heat and country air.

And another week of blooms out front.

Isn't life great.

Close-up

I was inspired by Stephanie's post of an art of seeing life's finest details. It is very interesting. Here are a few of the details I noticed:

The folds of the dark pink petals of the hollyhock,
and the pollon on the leaf.

I saw the "X" in the middle of this delicate pink flower, and the darker veins gracing the petals.

Hollyhocks

Hollyhocks grow in front of my house.
Along the porch railing are 3 different shades of pink Hollyhocks.
They are standing about 7 feet tall so far.
To the left, along the brick wall are white ones and some pale pink.
They are about 9 feet tall! They have a long ways to bloom yet. Does anyone remember making flower dolls out of the Hollyhock blooms as a child?
Dancing Hollyhock doll.
Pick a pretty opened flower for a skirt and a flower bud for the head. Peel away the green outer covering on the bud. Push the small stem of the opened flower into the base of the bud's folded petals. You can push little sticks in for arms. Place her on water and watch her dance!

Traditional Crazy Quilt Block

From my archives - very traditional style crazy quilt.
Click to supersize!
I guess I have turned into a twice a month blogger! Summertime keeps me away from the computer so much - and away from needlework. I have been filling my free time with planting and weeding and watering. My evenings are spent going for a walk and meeting neighbors, or riding my Harley in the warm air. I never stop sewing all together though, There are multiple projects going at one stage or another... just not a lot of time devoted to them.
Happy June!
