Beginnings...

It's been a week of finishes, and one fun beginning.
The fox - CUTE!
It is Kaufman fabric "Fox and the Houndstooth" by Andie Hanna.
A Christmas present.
(Someone knows I like fabric)

Cheers to Quilting.

Flag quilt

I've been working on this flag for about 2 months and finally finished it up.
Our days have been frosty. The fog settles in and it is a blue/gray world.
Oh yeah - one more finish (put the binding on) a blue/gray quilt that kinda matches our weather.

Pink and Ivory quilt

Made up of squares and triangles - simple design for a modern baby quilt.
Fun to work with pink for a change, I think there will be more pink in my future quilt making.

It sure has been nice having > a week off work, I was able to make 3 quilts and will be finishing another one this morning that I've been working on for a month.

This was a last minute Christmas Quilt for a friend who loves everything RETRO!

It has the avocado green, the peace signs, and the mod print.

I think it will work!

Plus Quilt

Finished and sent to Finland.
Christmas present to my brother and sister in law, who live in both Finland and Switzerland.  I picked this quilt design as both their countries have flags that have crosses. They will have to decide which home to keep the quilt in!

Merry Christmas to all in blogland.

Equilateral Triangle Quilt #2

Here is the orange and black and whole lot of tan one. It has 2 motorcycle prints in it, and of course the orange/black are Harley colors.  I will give it to my friend on Thanksgiving Eve, so I wanted to get a picture before then, however I am working such long hours that the sun is setting when I get home and the colors are a little off. The orange is no way that bright!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Equilateral Triangle Quilt

I am working on an equilateral triangle quilt in oranges and a little black, it has motorcycles on it. My friend will be ecstatic, as it is her colors and her interest. I'll show it after it's complete.
Here is one I made last year for another friend who likes lavender.
I didn't lay out the triangles to plan the quilt, but just started sewing and let them fall as they may, but I did watch per row to not have identical triangles lined up. Kinda fun.

Have a happy weekend.

Jean Quilt

Hot off the sewing machine is my first jean quilt! It is for my Grand-dog ZEEK, shown below. He is an awesome bouncy happy boxer who just moved to Utah from Florida. YAY!  Also I'm delighted to have my son and daughter in law - Levi and Jenna move back. Four years in the Navy - done!

The quilt... (my first and last jean quilt I bet!) is heavy - It is free-form patchwork, into large blocks, then 4 rows. I pressed all the seams open then stitched on both sides of them. Paired it up with a text fabric (Premier Prints from fabric.com - heavier than quilters cotton), thin cotton batting in the middle, and quilted it with wavy lines. It's purpose... will be a seat cover in the back of my dil's auto for Zeek.

ZEEK ! ! !

Quilted log cabin pillows

I learned how to make quilted pillows with binding around them.
The first was made from a thread sketch I had done years ago.

The bird center square is cut out from a piece of fabric.

This last one was a custom order, I did a thread sketch of a cute little church in Colorado.

Thanks for visiting!

love is patient

I have not been blogging, but I have been quilting. Lots and lots. I think it will slow down now with summer getting here, well maybe not. I still choose quilting over yard work - just like house work...  Here is my latest quit, inspired by the current events of people not being nice ~~shudder~~~ I release with the opposite of the spectrum by sewing love.  This quilt has the verses from 1 Corinthians 13 that defines LOVE.

Thanks for stopping by.

Quilted map - Game of Thrones

I've been working on a quilted map inspired by the Game of Thrones.
Above is the North.
..and detail of the middle section..
And the South.

I free motion quilted the outline and the names, the rivers, and the mountains. I hand stitched the King's Road and the trees and some stars for the cities. Finished it up with rubbing some color into the muslin to achieve an aged look. The hardest part of the whole process was getting the pictures taken!

1st quilt 2013 - Love is Louder shelter quilt

Here is the my first quilt start to finish of 2013. It is a donation to the local women's shelter. It is full of positive affirmations stitched into the white strips. It is made completely out of scraps.

Because LOVE is LOUDER than verbal and physical abuse.
Love is Louder than being homeless.

Have a happy helpful 2013!
