Celebrate Life

Celebrating Springtime and Life in general!
These 2 won't make it to etsy; they are already sold. I am starting to work more on needle art now - since the garden is in and flowers are planted... So hopefully I can stock the shop back up!

Faith Bird

I finally finished a cq collage - it took forever!
I don't make much art in the Summer.
It's a beautiful day out - and the fresh air calls me.

Little Bits

I do have a use for these!
They are 1" square, simple & colorful.
You'll have to wait and see where they will go...
and it might be a while!
I just have a little problem with bigger projects!
...and the weather is going to be delightful...
This weekend I plan to be OUTSIDE and not stitching.
My fingers will be pulling weeds part of the time and
wrapped around my handlebars the rest of the time!

The week in stitches

This was my week in stitches. Annie is in stitches too.
She had her operation to be spayed yesterday and is recuperating.
Click on her picture to enlarge and take another look at the eyelashes to envy!
...and one ear UP to Fritz!

To the Gardeners

Here is one to all the gardeners out there!
We are about a month away from being able to work the soil and plant here.
I am looking forward to it this year.

Love binds together

Just listed - a fun bright busy piece with warm lovin' colors.
I saw this quote on the Blue Eyed Girl blog.
We had a WARM weekend in Southern Utah, a super break from the cooler temps. (Thanks Mom for ordering up the sunshine and near 80 deg weather.)

Today is the day...

...to experience
...to love
...to enjoy
...to smile
...to do it
...to live
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

Celtic Knot / Arch

The best peace of all is the kind you feel in your heart and soul when everything else has gone crazy. I think it's linked to that hope at the end of the rope!

Sunday, March 09, 2008

At the end of my rope...

...there is hope.
Not my normal crazy quilt collage... but it was heartfelt.

Celtic Knot

Here is a simple Celtic knot, it is actually 2 interwoven pieces. I've been experiementing with drawing them, and with making them out of the yarn to incorporate them into my collages.
This measures apx. 6 1/2 x 4 1/2.
I listed 2 Celtic pieces on etsy along with a normal piece with birds -n- words.

Beauty in the Brokenness

I know I do the "Beauty in the Brokenness" theme often, it must be a soft spot for me. Be it a crazy quilt or a life, I believe there is beauty in the brokenness. We come thru hardships and dark times with wisdom and strength and an understanding of trials others are going thru.
I'm listing it on etsy right after I make my son 2 grilled cheese sandwhiches! :)

Family Album (3)

I have struggled to get pictures of this!!!! But here is what I've done this week - picked out a black pre-quilted back fabric (only because I don't have one of those cool quilting machines...) And I'm holding the pictures down with a sequin and bead at each corner. (Not finished yet with that step)

There is no pizzazz to this yet... must come up with something...

Family Album continued (2)

I'm still working on it... Step 3. I ironed paper backed fusable web onto some backing fabric, removed the paper, placed the felt backed picture squares and ironed down. Then cut and trimed the squares.
Step 4. Blanket stitched around the squares. Iron flat. I am using Cotton Pearl #8 but you can use anything that works for you. All so far... I still have a few squares to go around... and shake out the finger cramps from holding such a small piece. A couple of the pictures don't have a lot of contrast to them and I'm giving them a bit of a boost with a light brown or gray colored pencil.

Hopefully I'll have some time during the week to do more on this!

Family Album

New project!
I enjoyed making the 2" squares for Monica's art doll project, and thought that 2" square would be a good size for pieces on an album wall quilt. So far this has been easy, and if anyone wants to give it a try... follow along!
First, I printed 24 pictures (sized to aprox. 2" squares) out onto beigh 100% cotton. When I print I format my pictures into the Word program and adjust the sizes there. I iron the printing fabric onto paper-backed fusable web and cross my fingers and toes hoping that it won't get stuck in my printer. Second, I cut 2" squares of beigh felt out, then iron the pictures onto the felt, then trim the edges.
Here are the 24 pictures laid out on a piece of dark green felt for a sneak preview of what this will turn out like. I am unsure of the fabric yet to mount these on, maybe black, maybe green, I will do some experimenting. Next step? Probably will back each piece and blanket stitch the edges. Gotta figure that out still... stay tuned.
P.S. That's ME in the 5th row on the end.

All the art is small and reasonably priced.
I was a bit late,
but able to slide this piece under the proverbial door.

Help fight breast cancer.

Projects for Breast Cancer

There are two fundraisers for Breast Cancer going on right now.

Check out her site and links, she is getting terrific response and I am in such suspense to watch the project progress. Here are my little donations (2" squares)

The other is Art Esprit's Annual Benefit.

It is going on currently!

Dream Vividly!

Just a reminder... DREAM
